‘He’s Very Skilled And Smart’ – Two-Sport King Prajanchai Excited To Fight Alongside Teammate Kongthoranee At ONE Fight Night 36

The bonds forged in Bangkok’s sweltering training rooms run deeper than blood, and in the strict confines of the gym, ONE Strawweight Muay Thai and Kickboxing World Champion Prajanchai PK Saenchai and Kongthoranee Sor Sommai have developed an unbreakable brotherhood.

These two Thai warriors will march into battle together at ONE Fight Night 36: Prajanchai vs. Di Bella II on Prime Video, live in U.S. primetime on Friday, October 3, from Bangkok, Thailand.

Kongthoranee will face undefeated sensation Aslamjon Ortikov, while Prajanchai steps into his main event rematch against Jonathan Di Bella to unify the ONE Strawweight Kickboxing World Title. The stakes couldn’t be higher for both Thai veterans fighting on home soil.

Kongthoranee’s transformation from unheralded gem to legitimate World Title contender represents a meteoric rise through the ranks. His impressive performances under the ONE Friday Fights banner earned him a life-changing six-figure contract to join the main roster, and the #4-ranked flyweight Muay Thai contender has continued delivering against elite competition with an 11-3 promotional record on the sport’s grandest stage.

To reach his full potential, Kongthoranee knew he needed a change of scenery despite his early success. His pivotal move to the renowned PK Saenchai gym in Bangkok paired him with Prajanchai and reigning ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion Tawanchai PK Saenchai

Prajanchai immediately saw something special in Kongthoranee, drawn to their shared technical brilliance, counterstriking mastery, and devastatingly precise finishing power.

The camaraderie shone brightest when Prajanchai passionately cornered Kongthoranee against former ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nong-O Hama at ONE Fight Night 31 this past May. After winning their first encounter by split decision, Kongthoranee came up short in the rematch, losing by unanimous decision.

Despite the setback, Prajanchai’s respect for his teammate only deepened, reflecting on what he witnessed that night.

The 30-year-old Thai icon told onefc.com:

“Kongthoranee is a very hardworking and determined fighter. He’s very skilled and smart. But on that day, when he fought with Nong-O, he seemed a bit nervous.”

After the loss, Prajanchai watched his teammate channel disappointment into pure dedication.

The two-sport king was struck by Kongthoranee’s methodical approach to improvement and unwavering mental strength. His cautious approach and underrated toughness allowed him to weather any storm, qualities that caught Prajanchai’s attention in training sessions.

The 400-fight veteran was in awe of the 28-year-old’s hunger to evolve:

“He trains hard, both in the morning and at night. It’s hard to knock him out unless he makes a big mistake or gets hit by a powerful shot, because Kongthoranee is a fighter who is always careful.”

Prajanchai Backs Kongthoranee To Overcome Ortikov Challenge

Day after day, Prajanchai PK Saenchai has witnessed Kongthoranee’s transformation into a complete striker. The seasoned veteran sees a fighter whose multifaceted skills continue evolving with each session.

What strikes Prajanchai most is the perfect balance between his compatriot’s offense and defense. Kongthoranee has matured into a patient hunter, selecting his moments with clinical precision while keeping his guard airtight.

The 30-year-old is confident these attributes will be the difference-maker against Aslamjon Ortikov. Prajanchai explained:

“Kongthoranee’s strength is that he’s a thoughtful fighter. He won’t just rush in and attack recklessly. If he sees an opening, he’ll try to move in. His defense is also solid.”

However, Ortikov presents a formidable challenge that cannot be overlooked. The undefeated 22-year-old Uzbek boasts an immaculate 22-0 slate, including an unblemished eight victories in the world’s largest martial arts organization.

He enters with tremendous momentum following his contract-winning knockout victory over Petsukumvit Boi Bangna, where he showcased his killer instincts with yet another highlight reel finish at ONE Friday Fights 114 this past June. The young lion is hungry to crack the division’s top five and establish himself among the flyweight elite.

But Prajanchai’s faith in Kongthoranee will never waver. He sees a tactical master ready to expose raw talent with masterful precision.

While Ortikov’s perfect record may intimidate others, Prajanchai believes the stylistic contrast will favor his more experienced teammate Kongthoranee. The PK Saenchai Muaythaigym representative explained:

“I think it’ll be an exciting fight. I don’t know who will win or lose, but he’s definitely fast. Kongthoranee might be more cautious, and he has power. It’s a different kind of style.”
