ONE Friday Fights 166 Co-Main Event Result: Denkriangkrai Outlasts Abdessamie Rhenimi In Three-Round War

Thai brawler Denkriangkrai Mavinn Muaythai outmuscled Abdessamie Rhenimi across three hard-fought rounds to claim a unanimous decision in the flyweight Muay Thai co-main event of ONE Friday Fights 166 on August 14.

With the victory inside Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium on Friday, the 27-year-old reignited his chase for a life-changing US$100,000 main roster contract after seeing his five-fight win streak cut short in his last outing.

The opening exchanges of this Asia primetime battle told two contrasting stories. Denkriangkrai went straight to work with clubbing hooks and sneaky elbows that found their way past the taller Moroccan’s guard. Rhenimi was more reserved, content to feel out the range with calf kicks and look for counter opportunities.

From there, Denkriangkrai worked behind his jab, instigating chaos in the clinch with short punches to seize the upper hand through the first three minutes. But Rhenimi adjusted in the second canto, timing the Team Mavinn Muaythai athlete’s rhythm as he began to let his left hooks fly with greater conviction.

The 19-year-old had more success pushing away the Thai’s clinch attempts and made him pay with stinging rights and a sharp uppercut. Despite the mounting resistance, Denkriangkrai kept pressing forward. He smartly navigated past the height disadvantage by ducking under Rhenimi’s guard to hit him with piercing knees into the body.

Both fighters stuck to their strengths in the final round. Rhenimi swung rangy hooks and kicks while Denkriangkrai responded in kind with body shots and a well-timed overhand left. When the Moroccan unleashed a final punch barrage, the durable Thai absorbed the punishment and dragged him into the clinch one last time.

Aggression and output proved decisive on the scorecards. All three judges at ringside awarded the fight to Denkriangkrai, who returned to the win column with his 10th ONE Championship victory and 63rd career triumph.
