ONE Friday Fights 164 Co-Main Event Result: Arsoonnoi Drops Nongkhailek Twice To Seal Third Straight Win

Arsoonnoi Sitjasing delivered a composed and punishing performance against fellow Thai firecracker Nongkhailek Dr.Knotmuaythai in the flyweight Muay Thai co-main event of ONE Friday Fights 164 inside Bangkok’s legendary Lumpinee Stadium on July 31.

Both men went to work right off the bat, testing each other’s defense with a variety of strikes from the outside and the inside. Arsoonnoi hammered away with punches in bunches, while his Petchingchai foe responded with similar firepower.

The intensity rose dramatically in the second frame. After touching gloves, Nongkhailek caught a kick and attempted to respond with a punch, but the exchange left his chin exposed. Arsoonnoi immediately capitalized with a massive overhand right that dropped his opponent for an eight-count.

When the action resumed, Arsoonnoi attacked the body with repeated kicks and continued dictating the pace behind his punches. The Sitjasing and ARMY 3 representative stayed firmly in control as the round came to an end.

Nongkhailek, however, refused to wilt, increasing his pressure in the third stanza. Just as he appeared to find his rhythm, the 27-year-old promotional newcomer absorbed another sharp counter right hand from Arsoonnoi that sent him crashing to the canvas once more.

The resilient Thai rose before the count expired and fought until the final bell, but the two knockdowns left no doubt about the verdict. All three judges awarded Arsoonnoi the unanimous decision, which earned the 25-year-old a third consecutive win and improved his professional record to 34-13.

Earlier on the card, undefeated Filipina standout Islay Erika Bomogao extended her pristine slate to 6-0 with a spectacular finish against Klinphaka Por Thaisong in atomweight Muay Thai. Bomogao wrapped proceedings with a crushing right hand just 13 seconds into the third round.

It was the Team Bagsik and Highland Boxing Gym athlete’s third straight knockout and a fifth successive triumph on ONE Friday Fights. To make matters sweeter, the 25-year-old earned a life-changing US$100,000 contract and a place on the main roster of the world’s largest martial arts organization.

She will certainly be a threat to the talent-jammed division, currently ruled by ONE Women’s Atomweight Muay Thai World Champion Allycia Hellen Rodrigues.
