Not long ago, Tomyamkoong Bhumjaithai was still searching for his first victory in ONE Championship.
Now, after three straight wins and back-to-back finishes, the 22-year-old Thai finds himself headlining The Inner Circle 18 with a chance to move one step closer to the biggest opportunity of his career.
The PK Saenchai Muaythaigym representative will face Azerbaijani striker Anar Mammadov in a flyweight Muay Thai main event on Friday, June 12, streaming live exclusively at live.onefc.com from Bangkok’s legendary Lumpinee Stadium.
Tomyamkoong enters the bout carrying momentum few fighters in the division can match. After dropping his first two promotional appearances, he has completely reversed course, turning himself into a knockout machine.
For the Surin native, however, the job is far from finished.
He said:
“I want this fourth win badly because the ultimate goal is to secure that main ONE Championship roster contract. I’m on a great run right now, and I want to ride this momentum all the way to the global stage.
“After this, I’m completely focused on making waves in the flyweight division. This weight class is stacked with absolute killers, which is a massive challenge, but it’s one I have to pass.”
His recent surge didn’t happen by accident.
Despite owning nearly 130 career victories, Tomyamkoong believes the turning point in his ONE journey came when he addressed the defensive flaws that had held him back during the early stages of his run in the promotion.
That adjustment quickly transformed his fortunes.
He rattled off three consecutive victories and stopped his last two opponents inside the distance. After scoring a one-punch knockout against Watcharaphon Singha Mawynn, the Thai followed it up with a third-round TKO victory over Moldovan striker Bejenuta “Gladiator” Maximus at ONE Friday Fights 149, where he showcased a dangerous blend of elbows, clinch work, and relentless pressure.
He explained:
“The main turning point for me was just putting in the work and fixing my defense. I locked down my guard and stopped taking unnecessary damage.
“Once my defense clicked, it gave me the ultimate confidence to just go out there and execute.”
The improvements have become increasingly visible with every outing.
Alongside the victories, Tomyamkoong has collected back-to-back performance bonuses and gained confidence that his best days as a fighter may still be ahead of him. Just as importantly, he believes his permanent move to flyweight has unlocked a stronger version of himself.
The 22-year-old offered:
“Riding a three-fight win streak has given me a massive confidence boost, especially with how my striking is flowing. It’s getting better with every fight.
“My last fight was my first real test at flyweight, and I can feel my body fully adjusting to the weight now. I feel a lot stronger and my strikes have way more pop to them.”
Tomyamkoong Bhumjaithai’s rise will face another stern test in Anar Mammadov at The Inner Circle 18 this Friday.
The Team Mehdi Zatout representative owns a 12-4 professional record and brings a dangerous, punch-heavy style that has troubled many opponents throughout his career.
After studying the Azerbaijani carefully, the Thai understands exactly where the danger lies.
He said:
“Looking at Anar, his hands are his biggest weapon. He throws heavy, fast punches, especially in the opening round when he’s still fresh.
“I definitely need to respect his power early on.”
Still, Tomyamkoong believes there are opportunities to exploit.
After reviewing Mammadov’s recent defeat to Yodlekpet Or Atchariya, he noticed a pattern that could play directly into his own aggressive approach.
He explained:
“In his last fight against Yodlekpet, he got dropped for a count and that completely threw off his rhythm.
“I noticed that when you push him hard and make it a dogfight, he starts to fade significantly, and his guard gets loose. If he leaves any openings like that against me, I’m going to make him pay.”
The Thai’s game plan is simple.
Pressure Mammadov from the opening bell, force him into uncomfortable exchanges, and look for another finish once the opportunities present themselves.
With a fourth straight victory potentially putting him within touching distance of a ONE Championship contract, Tomyamkoong is confident he has the tools to keep his momentum rolling.
He concluded:
“I’m very confident in my power right now. I know I have the tools to put Anar away. If I catch him cleanly, he’s going to sleep just like the others.”
